When we found out we were having a girl we honestly had no idea what her name would be. We started looking at baby books and found it pretty overwhelming... one night I was organizing some things in the baby room and the name Abigail popped into my head. I'm sure I read it dozens of times in the baby book but never thought much of it. We wanted something biblical but there aren't a whole lot of girl names to choose from so we had kind of given up on that. Jacob pointed out that there IS an Abigail in the Bible and we googled where to find it and read it. 1 Samuel 25 if you're curious :) I honestly don't think I'd ever read it before. We thought it was a good story and went to bed not thinking too much of it but at least we had one name on our list to choose from!
The next day at church as I sat down in Sunday School Jacob nudged me, laughing and what do you know... the lesson was about Abigail! When we picked up Joey from his class his handout had a picture of all of Abigail's gifts to David. As we were talking to him about what he learned he was saying "Abby-dale" for Abigail. Just about the sweetest thing. Ever.
As if that wasn't enough guess what Abigail means? "Her father's joy." To say that Jacob is giddy about having a girl would be putting it lightly. He is SO excited for a little Daddy's girl. So what could be more perfect than that?
Since Joey got Jacob's middle name (Gordon) we decided we'd give Abigail my middle name, Marie. Abigail Marie Moore. It has a nice ring to it I think!
